INDIANAPOLIS (Inside INdiana Business) — Comcast Corp. (Nasdaq: CMCSA) has completed a nearly $1 million network upgrade to extend high-speed broadband to residents and businesses in northwestern Boone County and southeastern Tippecanoe County. The company says the project is part of an effort to bring internet access to more rural areas.

Comcast says residential customers will have access to gigabit internet service and businesses will be able to to choose internet speeds up to 100 Gigabits-per-second.

“Access to high quality internet service is essential in today’s world. Comcast is making a significant investment to better serve the residents and businesses of Thorntown with the most current broadband technology,” said Sen. Brian Buchanan (R-Lebanon).

Comcast says it has invested $1.6 billion in technology and infrastructure across the state.
