EVANSVILLE, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) — An Arkansas-based communications and software company is expanding its presence in Evansville. Windstream says it will invest about $200,000 to lease a 150,000-square-foot warehouse in the Vanderburgh Industrial Park, construction of which is set to be complete by September.

The facility will be Windstream’s second warehouse in Evansville. The company says the new warehouse will store materials such as network electronics, cable, modems, and routers to support a $2 billion expansion of its fiber optic network across 18 states.

Mark Reed, chief procurement officer for Windstream, says the company chose Evansville because of its existing relationship with the city and the company’s ability to leverage its existing workforce in Evansville.

A spokeperson for Windstream says the project will not result in any new jobs, though the company is looking to fill a small number of positions at its current facility in the city.

The facility is being developed by Woodward Development and Construction Inc., which is headquartered in nearby Newburgh.
