Defense contractor expanding Daviess County HQ

ODON, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) — A company providing engineering, technical, IT and cybersecurity services for the defense industry is growing in Daviess County. The Indiana Economic Development Corp. says Artisan Electronics plans to invest $350,000 to enhance its headquarters in Odon and create up to 20 jobs by the end of 2023.

Artisan says the investment will be used to make office improvements and computer and software upgrades at the facility, located at the WestGate@Crane Technology Park. The enhancements, according to the company, will increase its technical capabilities for key defense organizations, including the Naval Air Systems Command and the U.S. Department of Defense.

“We’re very pleased to see the continued success at Artisan Electronics and our local leaders are committed to supporting their growth,” said Michael Taylor, Daviess County commissioner and Daviess County Economic Development Corp. board member.  “Companies like Artisan are a very important part of the strong business base we have here in Daviess County, and we appreciate them for their decision to keep investing locally and for creating new, highly-skilled job opportunities at WestGate.”

The upgrades are expected to be complete by 2023. The company plans to begin hiring later this year for engineers, technicians and IT professionals.

The IEDC has offered Artisan Electronics up to $325,000 in conditional tax credits, which the company will not be eligible to claim until Hoosier workers are hired for the new jobs. Radius Indiana and the Daviess County Economic Development Foundation are providing additional assistance.
