Dubois Strong commissions Mid-States Corridor study

DUBOIS COUNTY, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) — The economic development organization for Dubois County has tapped a Chicago-based consulting firm to provide an analysis of the Mid-States Corridor project. Dubois Strong says Hunden Strategic Partners will study the potential positive impacts of the corridor, which will run from the Ohio River through Dubois County and connect to I-69.

Dubois Strong President Ed Cole says some of the potential impacts that will be analyzed include increased business activity, shorter commutes, greater job opportunities, enhanced tourism and other tax and economic benefits.

The organization says the Mid-States Corridor will eliminate the missing link in connecting the major hubs of Indianapolis and Nashville, Tennessee. Dubois and Spencer counties are included in that missing link.

The announcement of the HSP analysis was made during Dubois Strong’s annual meeting, during which Cole says many participants expressed support for the Mid-States Corridor.

In February, the project team for the Mid-States Corridor project released a list of 10 preliminary alternatives for the route. A single preferred corridor is expected to be named this fall along with a Draft Environmental Impact Statement. 

Dubois Strong did not provide an expected time frame for the analysis to be completed.
