INDIANAPOLIS (Inside INdiana Business) – Governor Eric Holcomb has announced two new state agency leaders. The governor has appointed Joe Hoage to serve as the commissioner of the Indiana Department of Labor and Josh Martin as chief data officer at the state’s Management Performance Hub.

Hoage previously served as the general counsel for the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles. Before joining the BMV, Hoage was general counsel for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and was also the state’s public access counselor.

Martin is currently the interim chief data officer at the Indiana Management Performance Hub. He has also served as the agency’s chief of staff since 2015. Prior to that, Martin was the program director of government efficiency and financial planning at the state Office of Management and Budget.

“Joe and Josh are both dedicated servants who use their expertise to provide Hoosiers with great government service,” said Holcomb. “Joe uses his legal savvy to create common-sense solutions, and Josh leverages data to address complex problems and improve the lives of Hoosiers. I’m excited to have both of these leaders at the helm.”

Holcomb’s office says Hoage will begin his new position on July 13, and Martin’s promotion is effective immediately.
