INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) – House Speaker Todd Huston (R-Fishers) has released updated 2020 interim study committee appointments, as well as several other committee assignments for members of the Indiana House of Representatives.

Huston said several appointments were updated to account for member retirements.

“Since session ended, our members have been working hard to help their constituents through an unprecedented pandemic, including sorting through unemployment issues and connecting local businesses to state resources,” said Huston. “Their work and the lessons we have all learned will help us as we look at changing and repealing certain laws to help better position Indiana for the future.”

Indiana’s part-time legislature works on policy issues throughout the summer and fall months while lawmakers are not in session. Members selected to serve on interim committees discuss the state’s top issues, gather public testimony and recommend legislative action.

Huston said while study committees typically meet in-person prior to the start of the legislative session, lawmakers are considering and testing new procedures to host meetings virtually because of the pandemic. Details will be released to the public soon.

The majority of interim committees will start in August and will end in October.
