IFN expanding northeast Indiana fiber presence

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) — Indianapolis-based Intelligent Fiber Network says it is investing nearly $6 million in Fort Wayne. The commercial fiber network provider says the investment is part of an effort to strengthen its overall network across northeast Indiana.

IFN says the investment includes new route miles of fiber to support 5G expansion for a telecommunications provider. The company will also expand its fiber technology services with a 10G fiber network built for the city of Fort Wayne, Fort Wayne Utilities, and Allen County “to enhance the city’s technological capabilities amid an impressive season of growth.”

The company is also partnering with the city of Fort Wayne to provide a core fiber connection that could run to the city’s network data center in Indianapolis.

“Economic growth today depends upon high-speed connectivity,” IFN Chief Executive Officer Jim Turner said in a news release. “Strengthening our network in Fort Wayne is a real testament to the city’s growth, and we’re excited to be a part of it. The Fort Wayne area has been a great place for us to enhance our business and our services, and we look forward to continuing to be a prominent technology provider for the City as well as our customers and partners throughout this region.”

IFN says the new fiber will expand its presence in northeast Indiana by enhancing its fiber footprint, network connectivity for customers, and overall speed and redundancy in the area.
