Indiana airports land federal grants

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Inside INdiana Business) — The Federal Aviation Administration has announced more than $96 million in grants for 65 Hoosier airports. The funding comes from the Trump administration’s CARES Act Airport Grant Program and aims to support continuing operations and replace lost revenue as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The U.S. Department of Transportation says the funds are available for airport capital expenditures, operating expenses such as payroll and utilities, as well as debt payments.

The FAA is encouraging airports to spend the grant funding immediately “to help minimize any adverse impact from the current public health emergency.”

The $96 million awarded to Indiana airports is part of $10 billion in emergency resources being awarded to airports throughout the country.
