Indy firm completes 1 million meals campaign

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) – Indianapolis-based Goelzer Investment Management has completed its Million Meal Campaign, a commitment to donate one million meals to Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana. The company says it recently donated 430,000 meals, completing its 20-year commitment six years ahead of schedule.

For the past 14 years, Goelzer says it has been donating beans to reach its goal of providing one million meals to families in central Indiana by 2026. With the onset of COVID-19 and a surge in unemployment, Goelzer took action and donated the remaining 430,000 meals this year.

“Goelzer Investment Management established a bold goal to provide 1 million meals to hungry Hoosiers. Those meals have come in the form of N.K. Hurst beans, which are popular with our clients, and highly nutritious,” says John Elliott, president of Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana. “Community partnerships are critical to our efforts to respond to the record-breaking need for food assistance in our community. Accelerating the annual bean donation to reach the million meal mark is a terrific way for Goelzer to make a difference.”

Gleaners says it has distributed more than half a billion pounds of food and critical grocery products through more than 580 hunger relief agencies, schools and community partners serving Hoosiers.
