IndyGo ridership increases

INDIANAPOLIS (Inside INdiana Business) — More people are riding IndyGo buses compared to the same time last year. IndyGo says January 2020 ridership increased 8% from the same time last year, and Red Line ridership is up 6% in January compared to December.

IndyGo is seeing increased riders systemwide this winter, which is the second consecutive January that riders have increased following service improvements. IndyGo says improving hours of service and frequency have led to the increases.

“Between 2018 and 2020, we made our routes more frequent and reliable, and riders have responded,” said Inez Evans, president and CEO of IndyGo. “We’re making these improvements to make transit an accessible option for riders. Now that our routes come more often and on every day of the week, more riders are choosing transit.”

Local route improvements began in 2018 as part of the Marion County Transit Plan, and the Red Line began operating daily in September 2019. IndyGo plans further systemwide improvements to go into effect in June 2020. Details can be found here
