Medical device maker growing again in Huntington
HUNTINGTON, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) — An orthopedic device manufacturer headquartered in Huntington County is expanding for the second time in nearly three years. The Indiana Economic Development Corp. says Incipio Devices LLC plans to invest more than $14 million to purchase and equip a new facility in Huntington and add up to 52 jobs by the end of 2023. The company, which employs more than 100 between its locations in Indiana and Switzerland, says the effort will help accommodate and accelerate growth.
Incipio Devices designs commercial orthopedic devices for use with existing implant platforms and also contract manufactures orthopedic implants and instruments for all joints, according to the IEDC. The company did not provide a time frame for when the new, 150,000-square-foot facility would be operational.
In October 2017, the company announced a more than $7 million investment at its Huntington location. Since that time, the company has tripled its job growth projects.
“We have been very happy with our investment in this community over the last five years and have found the city, county and the state to be very good partners in helping us succeed,” Troy Johnson, president of Incipio Devices, said in a news release. “Our location has also been very good for finding the type of employees we need to grow the business and support our customers. We are very satisfied with the talent in Huntington and the surrounding counties.”

The IEDC has offered Incipio Devices up to $525,000 in conditional tax credits, which the company will not be eligible to claim until Hoosier workers are hired for the new jobs. The city of Huntington will also consider additional incentives.
