Muncie-Delaware County Chamber President to retire

MUNCIE, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) — Muncie-Delaware County Chamber of Commerce President and Chief Executive Officer Jay Julian has announced he will retire next April. Julian has served in the role since 2009.

“If you look at where we were in 2009 when Jay took on this role and where we are today, the advancements are clear. That is the truest mark of the impact Jay has made. As a business community we are stronger and better positioned for tomorrow than we were when he took on this role,” said Chamber Chair Terry Pence.

The board says efforts to recruit and retain a new president/CEO are underway, including appointing an eight-member search committee, which is chaired by Pence and Economic Development Alliance Chair Kelly Shrock. The committee has also retained Smith & Syberg Executive Search to work with the committee and board.

The board says Smith & Syberg will serve as the point of contact for information and candidate recommendations and will hold interviews with candidates in October and November, with an expected start date of the new president in the first quarter of 2022.
