Nonprofit Villages of Indiana has named its next CEO

Shannon Schumacher was named CEO of The Villages of Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS (Inside INdiana Business) — Indianapolis-based nonprofit The Villages of Indiana has named Shannon Schumacher its next chief executive officer and president, succeeding the retiring Sharon Pierce.

Schumacher joins the child advocacy organization with more than 20 years in the nonprofit sector, most of that time with Volunteers of America Ohio & Indiana.

Pierce has served The Villages of Indiana for nearly 30 years.

Schumacher joined Volunteers of America in 1999 as a clinician. Over the past two decades has earned leadership roles with the organization. Most recently she served as vice president of strategy and innovation.

“Shannon’s many career achievements positively impacting mothers and their children tell a story of a forward-thinking leader with real-world experience guiding, building and innovating to support people toward finding stability,” says Rhonda Breman, The Villages board member who led the committee search.

Breman says Schumacher’s executive and administrative skills coupled with the network Schumacher has developed will complement The Villages operational and leadership needs.

Schumacher begins April 19.
