INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) – Powderkeg, an Indianapolis-based online technology hub, is providing early access to “Matches,” a community-powered job matching tool. Powderkeg says its tool pairs prospective employers and employees and is now available for those impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

The company says Matches will help pair displaced workers with technology companies that are hiring based on traditional qualifiers such as location, skills and job availability. According to the company, jobless claims in the United States have reached 26 million. Data from a recent Gallup poll finds 25% of Americans estimate they will lose their job in the next year.

“Unlike traditional job boards, Matches allows us to leverage real relationships and information from thousands of companies to connect talent with real-time hiring needs and hard-to-find opportunities,” said Matt Hunckler, chief executive officer of Powderkeg. “With so much uncertainty, now is an important time for us to come together as a tech community, especially those between the coasts, and early access to our community-powered job-matching offering is one way we can aid in that effort.”

Powderkeg says it will offer Matches for general availability later in 2020.
