WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) – Purdue University is now making its Digital Ready Businesses workshop series available online. The university says the entry-level workshops are designed to provide small businesses, entrepreneurs and community organizations with basic knowledge needed to establish an effective online presence.

Purdue says participants can choose to work through select lessons or complete the entire series. The university says individuals who complete the series will receive a Digital Ready Businesses certification from Purdue.

“If you don’t have an online presence today, you’re not going to be able to compete or perform at the level you could. People hear about these things but are not comfortable enough to go forward. These workshops can get them ready to dive in,” said Roberto Gallardo, director of the Purdue Center for Regional Development.

Purdue says the virtual format allows participants to learn where and when it’s convenient.

New Albany-based salon, spa and boutique StrandzandThreadz says its social media channels became valuable online real estate after owner Stefanie Griffith attended two workshops in Purdue’s series and began applying what she learned.

“We really didn’t have a good social media presence at the time. We doubled, probably tripled, Facebook,” said Griffith.

The eight workshops include, Claiming Your Bubble, Planning Your Website, Introduction to Email Marketing, Email Marketing Analytics, Social Media Introduction and Platforms, Social Media Planning and Content, Social Media Analytics and Marketing, and Business Intelligence.

Purdue says it has been offering the workshops at in-person training sessions around the state since 2018 and has also developed a mobile app. The university says participants can mix and match the options with the new online program.
