Purdue outlines plans for normal campus operations

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) — The Purdue University Board of Trustees has approved a resolution to return the West Lafayette campus to normal operations for the 2021-22 academic year. The university says the move was made after trustees reviewed a status update from the Protect Purdue Implementation Team and recommended changes to the current Protect Purdue plan.

Purdue says for the fall, all campus spaces will return to full density. Athletics and other venues will return to full occupancy levels, alumni and visitors will be welcomed back and pre-pandemic attendance policies for academic courses will be reinstated. Additionally, the number of university-provided quarantine spaces will be reduced.

Purdue also says plans call for little to no use of face masks, but a final decision on using face coverings in classrooms and instructional spaces will be made closer to the beginning of the semester. The university says the key factors to the changes will include the percentage of the campus population who have been vaccinated, the number and severity of local cases and the latest scientific information relative to variants.
