INDIANAPOLIS (Inside INdiana Business) — An Indianapolis-based craft brewery is joining an ever-growing list of beverage companies entering the hard seltzer market. Sun King Brewing Co. has unveiled what it says is one of the state’s first locally-produced hard seltzers, which it will sell in 12-ounce cans.

The brewery says it will offer mixed 12-packs of its hard seltzer in black cherry, mango, passion mango, and lemonade flavors at all Sun King locations and soon at Indiana retailers and restaurants.

“Since the days when we were developing the plan for Sun King, Dave (Colt) and I have never stopped dreaming of new beers and new ideas,” said Clay Robinson, co-founder of Sun King Brewery. “Our hard seltzers are the first of many fun new beverages that we’re excited to roll out for the future.”

Sales of hard seltzers have grown significantly over the past year, but Nielsen data shows the pandemic has led to an even greater surge. Nielsen says off-premise sales of hard seltzers during the 15-week period ending June 13 increased $900 million over the same period in 2019.
