INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) – The Salvation Army Indiana Division has named Major Marc Johnson its new Indiana Divisional Commander. Johnson succeeds Major Bob Webster, who is transitioning to a new role in St. Louis along side his wife, Major Collette Webster.

The Salvation Army says Johnson will begin his appointment in early July. His wife, Major Karen Johnson, will also join the nonprofit as divisional director of women’s ministries.

“We are excited to serve the people of Indiana alongside the many dedicated Salvation Army officers, soldiers, and volunteers who, as our International Mission Statement says, have been ‘preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ and meeting human needs in His Name without discrimination’ for many years,” said Johnson.

The Salvation Army says Johnson will guide its officers, staff, and volunteers through the challenges of operating during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Johnson previously served at The Salvation Army’s College for Officer Training in Chicago, where he was an assistant training principal since 2018.

The Johnsons’ prior appointments with The Salvation Army include corps appointments across the Midwest and six years in Chile. The organization says this is the couple’s second time serving The Salvation Army in Indiana. In the 1990s, they oversaw the day-to-day operations and ministries of the East Chicago corps community center in northwest Indiana.
