EVANSVILLE, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) — The YMCA of Southwestern Indiana is looking for development proposals for two properties at its former location in Evansville. The YMCA says the properties cover nearly 60,000 square feet and include the former pool, lobby and gymnasium.
YMCA President and Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Pope says the organization is looking for ideas.
“We developed a task force of volunteers, board members, and staff to vet potential opportunities for the remaining building to ensure that it continues to serve the community in a meaningful way,” Pope said.
Deputy Mayor of Evansville, Steve Schaefer, is leading the task force.
“The Y has gone above and beyond to find a reuse of that space. We are excited to see what ideas come from the RFP because that building is a vital piece to the continued growth and development of Downtown,” said Schaefer.
The YMCA says proposals are due May 14. The YMCA built the Ascension St. Vincent YMCA in 2019 near its former building.
