Interim IPS superintendent applying for position on permanent basis

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The woman serving as interim superintendent of Indianapolis Public Schools said Wednesday that she plans to apply for the position on a permanent basis.

Aleesia Johnson announced her intent on Twitter, saying it would be an honor and privilege to continue leading IPS.

Johnson said she hopes to improve academic achievement and maximize the district’s financial resources.

IPS opened the application window for the position Wednesday. It closes May 17.
