(CNN) — Three police officers suffered severe burns while trying to quell a student protest in Indonesia.
Officials say the demonstration started peaceful and turned violent when police tried to push the protesters back.
Someone then threw gas on officers who were trying to extinguish vehicles that had been set on fire.
The injured officers were taken to a nearby hospital.
Police arrested 13 people in the riot.
