ISP expects 2,500 applicants for next round of recruits

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WLFI) – Applications are now being accepted for the next class of Indiana State Police recruits.

ISP expects 2,500 people to apply by the Feb. 25 deadline.

About 65 people will be selected to go through with 24 weeks of training.

Some are expected to drop out during that time.

Recruits are also required to do more than 1,000 hours of training at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in Plainfield.

The whole process takes about a year.

Indiana has about 1,200 state troopers right now.

Recruits make about 42,000 a year but that’s increased to around 52,000 a year after 12 months solo on the road.
