Jenner awarded ESPY over Hill, social media erupts

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The decision to award Caitlyn Jenner an ESPY Award is not setting well with some sports fans on social media.

ESPN announced Monday that Jenner would receive the Arthur Ashe Courage Award next month for “showing courage to embrace the truth that she had hidden for years.”

Many people are criticizing the network for choosing Jenner over Indiana native Lauren Hill. Hill played basketball at Mount St. Joseph College before dying of brain cancer. 

The hashtag #LaurenHillESPY was trending Tuesday night.
