‘Kondo Effect’ fills west side consignment sale with more than 100,000 items

HENDRICKS COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — Organizers of one of Indiana’s largest mom-to-mom consignment sales says the Kondo effect is apparent at this season’s event.

The Here We Grow Again Kids Consignment Sale in Hendricks County opens today and offers more than 100,000 items.

Sale owners said they had to cap clothing at 60,000 items this year and cut off cosigner drop-offs weeks earlier than expected.

The ‘Kondo effect’ is a phrase coined by the Netflix series “Tidying Up With Marie Kondo,” which details a home organizing method rooted in purging what you own that does not spark joy.

“Just probably binge-watching Netflix, they were just really inspired and clothing is her first step of that, so we quickly saw the clothing numbers skyrocketing,” Katie Awwad, Here We Grow Again Kids Consignment Sale Indy West co-owner, said.

If you’d like to shop at the sale, it’s at the Hendricks County Fairgrounds.

Hours are 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday.
