Teen accused of murder has bond revoked after failing drug test

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WISH) – A man accused of shooting and killing a teenager in Terre Haute is back behind bars.

According to the Vigo County Prosecutor’s Office, a drug test indicated Nathan Derickson, 19, had tetrahydrocannabinol, a chemical found in marijuana and better known as THC, in his system. 

Derickson claimed he was using CBD oil to treat anxiety as advised by a doctor. CBD oil also contains THC.

A hearing was set for June 27.

If he pays bail, he will be placed back on house arrest until then.

Derickson faces five charges including reckless homicide for shooting a 17-year-old durnig a party at Derickson’s house in March.
