Lawsuit: USA Diving, Hamilton Co. dive school failed to protect athletes from sexual abuse
HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – A new federal lawsuit claims USA Diving and a diving school in Hamilton County failed to protect athletes from sexual abuse.
The potential class action suit filed Sunday night names Indianapolis-based USA Diving, and RipFest, a diving school in Arcadia, among the defendants.
The suit claims multiple coaches at the Hamilton County facility were touching athletes inappropriately over their clothing, and that one coach tried to sexually assault another coach in a Ripfest dorm.
The plaintiffs, a former student and a former coach, are seeking unspecified monetary damages, and to force USA Diving to implement new measures to protect athletes.
There has been no official response yet from USA Diving or Ripfest.
