LGBT supporters celebrate end of “Circle City IN Pride”, remember Orlando victims

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – All week-long LGBT supporters have been enjoying events for the 2016 Circle City IN Pride week. Sunday, LGBT supports gathered at Dick’s Last Resort in downtown Indianapolis for the Pride Survivors Brunch.

The brunch was meant for Circle City IN Pride participants to relax after enjoying the week-long festivities. Instead, many in attendance were talking about the mass shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, a business that describes itself as “the hottest gay bar in Orlando”.

Lola Palooza, a member of Indy Pride’s board of directors, said “When I first woke up this morning and saw what had happened I just had to stop and sit down and really think about. it. People think that things are okay for us now that we’re out of the closet and it ‘s all good and we’re getting all of the things that we want, but the world is still a really scary place for anybody who’s different.”

Palooza said many of the people who attended Sunday’s brunch know someone who lives in Orlando.

The group sends their thoughts and prayers to the families and friends of the victims of the shooting.
