In-person or online? Here’s how Indiana schools are reopening in COVID-19 pandemic
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — News 8 compiled the back-to-school plans of many of Indiana’s public school districts from information collected from their websites and documents.
The plans, of course, are subject to alterations due to the changing environment of the coronavirus pandemic and how it affects each locality.
Across the state, all schools have put into place safety measures including mask-wearing, social distancing, extensive cleaning and other measures to try to curb the virus. Some districts are also doing regular health screenings of students.
This list includes counties that can receive WISH-TV broadcast signal. The information is presented by county. Anyone can inform News 8 of changes by email at newsdesk@wishtv.com.
Bartholomew County
Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp.: The school is doing in-person learning with two different virtual learning options. One online learning option is to go at the same pace as the in-person classes; the other is for the students to go at their own pace. Safety measures will be put in place. Flat Rock-Hawcreek School Corp.: They plan to return to in-person learning. They are not currently making any changes to their calendar. Benton County

Boone County
Lebanon Community School Corp: They plan to return to in-person learning, but give four different ways of how it will look. For K-5, they are doing in-person learning. For grades 6-12, they have blended learning as an option: two days in person and three days of virtual learning. Last name beginning A-L: Tuesday and Wednesday in person. Last name beginning M-Z: Thursday and Friday in person. All students will attend virtually on Mondays. They provide an remote learning option for those not wanting or unable to attend. Western Boone County Community School Corp.: They plan to return to in-person learning. They are sectioning students in grades 7-12 into two groups. Red Cohort will attend in person on Monday, Wednesday and every other Friday. The Blue Cohort will attend in person on Tuesday, Thursday and every other Friday. Hamilton Southeastern Schools: They have a four-phase plan put in place for their students returning to the classroom. Phase 1 is all virtual learning.
