Llamas bring joy to residents at area nursing homes during pandemic
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Prize-winning show llamas have been visiting several area nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic in an effort to bring joy to residents.
Molly Hayes and her twin daughters have been bringing their llamas to various nursing homes. Photos of the visits show residents laughing and smiling at the llamas through the windows of their homes.
The llamas have already paid visits to the following locations:
- Carmel Health and Living
- Allisonville Meadows
- Harbor Manor
- Five Star Residence
- Forum at the Crossing
- Crown Point Assisted Living
- Evergreen Crossing and Lofts
- Barrington of Carmel
- Copper Trace Family First
- Sanders Glen Assisted Living
- Bridgewater Healthcare Center
- IU Health Hospice Indianapolis
Hayes and her team have been conducting Zoom calls with the llamas to places like IU Health and birthday parities.
The group also has plans to crash church meetings and classroom Zoom lessons.
Hayes says she wants to bring the llamas back to the nursing homes after the pandemic so residents can meet them up close in person.
