Plainfield man dead after crash on I-69 near Alexandria
ALEXANDRIA, Ind. (WISH) — A Plainfield man has died after a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 69 Thursday afternoon, according to Indiana State Police.
Police say Kevan McDaniel, 41, of Plainfield, was driving a blue Toyota Corolla northbound on I-69 around 2:30 p.m. when he crashed into the back of a semi near mile marker 245. That’s just north of the exit for State Road 28.
According to investigators, McDaniel failed to slow down for traffic that had slowed for a construction zone in the area. McDaniel tried to stop, but crashed into the truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the semi, Kirk Brown, 28, of Naples, Fla., was not injured in the crash.
All northbound lanes of I-69 were closed to traffic as investigators reconstructed the scene. According to ISP, traffic was backed up for about eight miles as drivers were diverted to the State Road 28 exit.
