1 dead after southwest side crash

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — One person is dead after a Sunday night crash on the city’s southwest side.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to the 7600 block of W. Washington St. just after 9 p.m. Sunday. That’s just west of Girls School Road.

IMPD says a vehicle was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes before striking another vehicle in a head-on collision.

The driver, who was traveling in the westbound lanes, was pronounced dead on the scene. That person has been identified as 78-year-old James Morrison. Cause of death is listed as multiple blunt force traumatic injuries/accident.

The driver’s identity has not been released.

The crash remains under investigation.
