ANDERSON, Ind. (WISH) — An Anderson couple faces charges after their baby was discovered to have a fractured leg.

27-year-old Darrelywn Wisler II and 24-year-old Nicole Crisp face two felony charges each in the case.

On June 9, officers with the Anderson Police Department responded to Community Hospital Anderson after staff alerted them APD to possible abuse.

The couple’s 26-day-old baby was diagnosed with a tibial bone fracture of her right leg.

Police said the couple could not explain the injury and that the couple said that the baby had never been out of their presence.

The baby’s pediatrician performed x-rays, sent the child to the hospital for a cast, and made a referral to Child Protection.

A doctor stated that the injury was neglect, leading DCS to detain the child and a sibling.

Another doctor described the injury as non-accidental.

Hospital staff also said that the couple had brought the baby in on June 8 for bruising above her knee.

Wisler and Crisp both face charges for neglect of a dependent and battery.
