2 teens in hospital after south side shooting

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Two teenagers are in the hospital following a shooting on the south side of Indianapolis early Friday morning, according to the Indiana State Police.

According to ISP, just after midnight, officers were called to the area of I-65 and Southport Road for a report of shots fired.

After arriving on scene, two teenage victims, a 16-year-old and a 15-year-old, were discovered. The 16-year-old was the driver of a black Chevy Impala. The 15-year-old, who was the driver and sole occupant, of a red Chevy Malibu.

Both victims were transported to the hospital. Their injuries are not life-threatening.

Additionally, police say there was a passenger in the Chevy Impala, but they did not suffer any injuries.

Police say they believe the shots were fired from a dark-colored Nissan, headed westbound on Southport Road as it left the area.

The shooting remains under investigation.
