20-foot-long bench on Canal Walk designed to fight loneliness

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Local leaders braved the rain Friday afternoon for the Togetherness Rally on downtown’s Canal Walk.

The rally included a 1-mile walk and the dedication of a 20-foot-long “Togetherness Bench” commissioned by the Indianapolis city government. The bench is near the West Ohio Street overpass along the Canal Walk.

The event was put on by Love the Lonely, which is committed to fighting loneliness in cities across the United States. The group hopes to install more of the benches across the city.
