3 critically injured in I-465 crash of 2 semis, box truck and pickup

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A crash of two tractor-trailers, one box truck and one pickup on southbound Interstate 465 near Rockville Road critically injured three people Monday night.

According to Sgt. John Perrine with Indiana State Police, a box truck rear-ended a stalled semi tractor-trailer and spun into the path of another semi tractor-trailer. A pickup hit the crashed trucks.

Three of the four drivers were critically injured and taken to area hospitals. One of the semi drivers was trapped for 12 minutes before crews from Wayne Township Police Department were able to help the driver out.

Indianapolis Fire Department reported that three people were critically injured and one person was slightly injured after the crash. A small oil/diesel spill was also cleaned up, IFD said.

On Monday night, state police reconstructionists were investigating the crash, Perrine said.
