3 teens, 1 adult hospitalized after Madison County crash

PENDLETON, Ind. (WISH) — Three teenagers and an adult were hospitalized after a two-car crash in Madison County Monday.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Department responded to the crash at the intersection of State Road 13 and County Road 800 South around 10 a.m.

Initial investigation suggested that a 2015 Chevy Malibu was stopped at the intersection on County Road 800 South. The Malibu pulled out in front of a 1998 Ram 350 flatbed truck traveling south on State Road 13, and the two vehicles collided.

The driver of the truck, Ethan Gotwals, 24, of Anderson, was knocked unconscious and airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital.

The driver of the Malibu, Colin Gillespie, 17, of Pendleton, was airlifted from the scene in critical condition. MCSD said he is now in “critical but stable condition.”

Two passengers in the Malibu were also injured. Ashlyn Gillespie, 14, of Pendleton, was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital in critical condition.

Emily Jones, also of Pendleton, was transported by ambulance to a hospital and is now in good condition.
