Airbnb: No parties in Indy rental properties, will work with IMPD

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – While some businesses have started opening back up, there are still a number of restrictions in place.

Hoosiers are still being asked to avoid large gatherings, such as parties and Memorial Day festivities.

Airbnb is now warning against large gatherings at rental properties listed with them in Indianapolis.

The company released a statement, saying in part:

The month of May brings with it many moments worth celebrating for Hoosiers — from high school and college graduations to Memorial Day weekend festivities. 

Under typical circumstances, Airbnb empowers our hosts to set House Rules on events and parties that are appropriate for their communities. However, these are very different times, and public health must come first. To that end, we have previously announced that we will not allow for hosts to authorize parties and events in regions where current public health mandates prohibit events and gatherings. Governor Holcomb’s “Getting Indiana Back on Track” plan still prohibits large social gatherings in the state, meaning our new policy means we are not allowing any type of party in Indianapolis until further notice.

Additionally, the company also says they will ban any guests who try to throw an “unauthorized” party at one of their Indianapolis listings and will work with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department in any investigation that may stem from a potential party or gathering.
