WESTFIELD, Ind. (WISH) — WISH TV’s Sports Director Anthony Calhoun is hosting his annual AC Charity Golf Classic.
The event raises money for Teachers’ Treasures in central Indiana. Chatham Hills in Westfield is playing host to the tournament this year.
Around 30 volunteers gathered to help with the event on Monday.
The initiative has raised over $1 million collectively over the years. This year a fundraising goal for the event has been set at $200,000.
“Teachers spend about a thousand dollars of their own money. Unbelievable, and so this organization gears towards more the inner-city students to help them be able to buy school supplies,” explained Anthony Calhoun.
“It’s just an important event to raise awareness about teachers and their needs,” said Margaret, a teacher involved with the organization.
Among the golfers participating this year are WISH TV’s Scott Sander, Mike Barz and Stephanie Mead.
