INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An AutoZone employee shot a suspect during a robbery attempt on the city’s northwest side Thursday night, police say.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called around 9:30 p.m. to the AutoZone at 7455 Michigan Road on reports of an attempted robbery.

When officers arrived they learned two suspects fled the store and one of them was suffering from a gunshot wound. Police say an employee shot the suspect.

The injured suspect was later found on the porch of a nearby home. Authorities took the suspect to St. Vincent Hospital in stable condition.

No other details have been released.
