Bartholomew County crash kills Edinburgh man

COLUMBUS, Ind. (WISH) — A crash in Bartholomew County claimed the life of an Edinburgh man Saturday, the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office said Sunday.

Around 2 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to reports of a crash on I-65 at the 69.5 mile marker. Upon arrival, police found a single-vehicle crash.

The driver of the vehicle, Richard Campbell, 65, was pronounced dead on the scene.

Authorities believe that reckless driving may have been a factor in the crash.

“We have seen an increase in serious traffic accidents this summer,” said Major Chris Lane. “We again ask the community to please follow all traffic laws which are designed to prevent these type of accidents.”

The investigation is ongoing.
