Beech Grove cancels fireworks display

BEECH GROVE, Ind. (WISH) – The coronavirus pandemic continues to affect Independence Day celebrations.

On Tuesday, Beech Grove Mayor Dennis Buckley announced the cancellation of the July 3 fireworks display.

Buckley said he came to the decision after discussing the matter with his police and fire chief as well as hearing public comments from the Indiana State Board of Health.

There is no rescheduled date as the city will look to prepare for the 2021 celebration.

Fishers and Anderson have already canceled their holiday fireworks shows.

Indianapolis has not made a decision. A city spokesperson told News 8 last week, “We’re continuing to work with local and state health officials to determine best practices as it relates to 4th of July celebrations in our community.”
