LOGANSPORT, Ind. (WISH) — Each and every week, Dick Wolfsie shares a special story unique to central Indiana.

This week, we continue our best of Dick Wolfsie series by taking a look at his trip to the Batcave (or Logansport, Ind.) from 2018 when he witnessed a real treat with Fiberglass Freaks

Fiberglass Freaks is a group of replica artisans that specialize only in the 1966 Batmobile. They are also known for their how-to guides.

“I was a big fan from when I was two years old, way back in ’67,” said Mark Racop with Fiberglass Freaks. “I fell in love with the TV show, the music, the action, the color, everything about the show but especially with a certain vehicle.”

Wolfsie got an inside look on how the creations are made, which are real close to what is used in the movies.

“Fiberglass body is really thick, so it’s a nice sturdy car body,” said Racop. “You’ve got solid doors with real latches, real hinges. Everything works on the car; your hood, the trunk opens with electric actuators. The Bat beam antenna raises and lowers.”
