Broad Ripple panel considers apartment proposal near Vogue
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A Broad Ripple Village Association committee on Tuesday night discussed a proposal for a mid-rise commercial and apartment building near the Vogue music venue.
Tim Oaks with Ice Miller Legal Counsel gave a presentation regarding the rezoning of eight properties in the 6200 blocks of College and Carrollton avenues. The area includes houses, some that have been converted into businesses. Plans call for a five-story, mixed-use building in and around the music venue. Vogue, 6259 N. College Ave., would remain and not be part of the proposal.
The meeting started at 6 p.m. at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 1660 Kessler Blvd. E. Drive.
The presentation to the association’s land use and development committee is in advance of consideration of the proposal by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Development Commission and one of the city’s board of zoning appeals. The City-County Council also would likely have to approve the construction.
A separate presentation at the meeting was to discuss the proposal in context to the Envision Broad Ripple plan. Key elements of that plan include goals for for land use, transportation and parking.
Also during the meeting, committee members talked about the future of the vacant Marsh Supermarket on the northwest corner of 62nd Street and Keystone Avenue. A representative for the property owner said a national retail coffee store is looking to go into the site.
