Catholic bishops to bring Eucharistic Congress to Indianapolis in 2024

BALTIMORE (WISH) — U.S. Catholic bishops on Wednesday approved bringing the National Eucharistic Congress to Indianapolis in the summer of 2024.

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops tweeted the announcement made during their Fall General Assembly. Bidders’ presentation referenced attendance from 80,000-100,000 as their goal.

Organizers expected the cost of the event, which would be in July, to be $28 million. A PowerPoint presentation to the bishops referenced the Indiana Convention Center, Lucas Oil Stadium, Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Victory Field, and The Amphitheater at White River State Park.

The visit to Indianapolis will complete a planned three-year, national “revival” to renew the Catholic Church “by enkindling a living relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist,” the PowerPoint says.
