Collaborative investigation leads to suspect arrested, federally charged

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A suspect has been taken into custody and now faces federal charges following a collaborative investigation by the Indianapolis Violence Reduction Partnership, which includes the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and other local, state and federal agencies.

According to IMPD, Roland Mclain was taken into custody on Nov. 5 in an apartment in the 3200 block of North Illinois Street.

Also, during the arrest, officers executed a search warrant for the apartment and found evidence of narcotics dealing. A second search warrant was then obtained and carried out on the apartment.

Mclain, on two previous occasions, while officers were attempting to conduct a traffic stop, he led officers on a vehicle and foot pursuit and was able to evade arrest in both instances. 

On Oct. 4, the date of the first vehicle and foot pursuit, officers discovered six handguns, two rifles, close to 18 grams of meth and 26 grams of cocaine from inside the vehicle. Those guns were linked to three incident of gun violence. 

Then on Oct. 31, officers found another handgun inside Mclain’s vehicle, during another attempted traffic stop. That gun was also linked to a domestic violence situation where a shot fired.
