Columbus traffic stop results in 4 drug arrests

COLUMBUS, Ind. (WISH) – Four people are behind bars following a Tuesday evening traffic stop in Columbus.

According to the Columbus Police Department, at approximately 9:45 p.m., a vehicle driven by 43-year-old Jeremy Hedger, was pulled over for a minor traffic violation near 8th Street and Lafayette Avenue. During the course of the stop, a Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department (BCSD) canine alerted officers to the possible presence of narcotics. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a number of clear plastic bags that had meth and heroin.

About an hour later, another vehicle, driven by 35-year-old Seven Freiner, was stopped in the area of 9th Street and Pearl Street for a traffic violation. Again, during the officers’ interaction with Freiner, a BCSD canine signaled to the possibility of narcotics in the vehicle. The vehicle was searched and meth, prescription medication and drug paraphernalia was found, police say.

During the second traffic stop, officers learned that Friener had just left Hedger’s residence.

According to officers, a search warrant was then obtained and executed before midnight Tuesday evening at Hedger’s residence in the 800 block of Sycamore Street. During the residence search, more heroin as well as drug paraphernalia and a stolen computer were located. Additionally, 30-year-old Ashley Parrott, who lives at the address was taken into custody.

While conducting their search, 34-year-old Danel Frodge knocked on the door and was then arrested. Frodge had a Bartholomew County warrant out for his arrest. He was found to have a syringe in his possession.

Hedger, Freiner, Parrott and Frodge were all transported to the Bartholomew County Jail, where each faces a number of preliminary drug charges.
