Community honors 2 unclaimed veterans during public memorial service

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Two veterans with no known family members were honored Thursday during a public memorial service.

The funerals were held for Air Force Spc. David Allen Lamaster and Private 1st Class Marine Harold Anthony Baker at Sprowl Funeral & Cremation Care on the city’s near-north side.

Military honors took place in a room filled with both veterans and other members of the community.

“We all are their family. Whether you are a civilian or military, we become their family. We come out to support our fellow brothers and sisters,” said James Roberts, who is a training instructor for the Indy Metropolitan Military Honor Guard.

The two will be laid to rest at Marion National Cemetery in Marion.
