Community Link: Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Each week in Community Link Carolene Mays-Medley and Marco Dominguez take a look at an organization or business that is making a positive impact on the community.

This week they spoke to Beth White, executive director of the Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee.

The Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee is a non-partisan community organization that is made up of other members of the community. People from nonprofits, education, heath care and all the different sectors join together to help the mayor with initiatives within the community.

The organization has been working for progress in Indianapolis for more than 50 years.

White said the organization is responsible for giving the Charles L. Whistler Award — the highest civic leadership award given by the mayor. The organization is also working on various projects including Project Indy and Plan 2020.
