Crews respond to near north side building fire

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Crews were called to an overnight fire at a near north side vacant building.

According to the Indianapolis Fire Department, crews were called to the 700 block of Fairfield Avenue just after 1 a.m. Wednesday.

Crews arrived on the scene minutes later and began battling the flames. IFD said that just after 2 a.m. the entire two-story structure collapsed

Due to the flames and their position to power lines, the power to the entire neighborhood in the area was shut down. It has since been turned back on.

Crews were able to get the fire under control around 3:30 a.m.

IFD said there were no injuries related to the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
