FORTVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — Police say an elderly man from Indianapolis died after the Cadillac he was driving in crashed into a tree.

The crash was reported about 2:15 p.m. Friday near Hancock County Road North 300 West and State Road 234. That’s in a rural area about 2 miles southwest of Fortville.

The Hancock County coroner on Saturday identified the man as Herbert H. Bullock, 93.

A caller informed police after finding a 2005 Cadillac STS car crashed into a tree, the release said. Evidence shows the car was northbound on North 300 West, crossed State Road 234, left the road, flipped and landed against the tree. The man was partially ejected. No only else was in the Cadillac. There was no evidence another vehicle was involved.

The man did not appear to be wearing a seat belt, the release said. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash.

The intersection was closed for about two hours after the crash was discovered.
